The pregnancy test takes 14-16 days on average after ovulation to turn positive. If the ovulation was late and implantation also happened late then it could take longer for pregnancy test to turn positive. If you miss your period then take pregnancy test and the result is negative, repeat the test in a couple of days to see if you are pregnant or not.

The implantation time is various to every women. It can occur anytime from 6-12 days post ovulation, and a urine pregnancy test will usually not become positive until 5-6 days after ovulation. When the egg implants, some women may experience implantation bleeding, it is when slight spotting or bleeding like menstrual bleeding occurs.

Other causes for a false negative pregnancy test include:

  • Improper testing (If take an early pregnancy test too early)
  • Expired test
  • Diluted urine
  • Ectopic pregnancy

Should you got negative result on your pregnancy test a day or two after your period is due, it is possible that you do the test too early or maybe your urine was too diluted. If your period still has not come, you may retest again in several days a week. If the test result still negative seek for doctor’s advice.
